Dysport® Injections in Brooklyn

Smooth Expression Lines While Preserving Natural Facial Movement

Dysport® is a prescription injectable neuromodulator containing abobotulinumtoxinA. It temporarily reduces activity in targeted facial muscles that create expression lines, allowing the skin above them to appear smoother while untreated muscles continue to move naturally.

At Skin Glow Dermatology in Brooklyn, Yelena Terushkin, PA-C evaluates your facial anatomy, muscle strength, existing lines, treatment history, and aesthetic goals before creating a personalized injection plan.

Dysport® treats muscle-related wrinkles rather than lost facial volume. If volume loss is contributing to your concerns, your treatment plan may include RHA® Collection fillers, Radiesse®, or another appropriate filler.

What Is Dysport® and How Does It Work?

Every time you frown, squint, raise your eyebrows, or make another facial expression, underlying muscles contract. Over time, repeated movement can contribute to lines that become increasingly visible even when your face is relaxed.

Dysport® temporarily blocks nerve signaling to selected muscles. When those muscles relax, the overlying skin can appear smoother. Because injections are placed strategically, treatment can be customized rather than affecting the entire face.

Dysport® is not a dermal filler. Fillers such as the RHA® Collection restore or add volume, while Dysport® works on muscle activity. Some patients benefit from both approaches.

Patient Selection

Who Is a Candidate for Dysport®?

Dysport® may be appropriate for adults bothered by dynamic facial lines caused by repeated muscle movement and who want a non-surgical treatment with little downtime. The best plan depends on facial muscle strength, line depth, prior injectable treatments, health history, medications, and desired degree of movement.

You May Be a Candidate If You:

Have expression-related lines, want a subtle refreshed appearance, and have realistic expectations.

Treatment May Not Be Appropriate If You:

Have an infection at the proposed injection site, certain allergies or neuromuscular conditions, or another contraindication identified during medical review.

Dysport® vs. Botox®: What’s the Difference?

Dysport® contains abobotulinumtoxinA, while Botox® Cosmetic contains onabotulinumtoxinA. Both temporarily reduce targeted muscle activity, but they are distinct prescription products with product-specific dosing.

Dysport®

Often selected when its formulation and treatment characteristics fit the patient’s anatomy and goals. Dysport units cannot be directly converted to Botox units.

Botox® Cosmetic

A widely used neuromodulator with its own FDA-approved cosmetic indications and product-specific dosing.

There is no universal “best” neuromodulator. Your provider can recommend an option based on anatomy, treatment area, prior response, desired movement, and clinical judgment.

Neuromodulators vs. Fillers

Dysport® vs. Dermal Fillers

Dysport® reduces activity in selected muscles responsible for dynamic wrinkles. Dermal fillers restore or add volume and may improve folds, contours, or age-related volume loss.

For softer volume restoration in areas that move frequently, the RHA® Collection may be considered. For structural support and collagen stimulation, learn about Radiesse®. Patients interested in lip volume or definition can explore our lip filler treatments in Brooklyn.

Results & Recovery

When Does Dysport® Start Working?

Improvement generally develops gradually over several days rather than immediately. The full effect may take longer to appreciate, and duration varies from patient to patient based on treatment area, dose, muscle strength, metabolism, and other individual factors.

Treatment Day

Small injection-site bumps or redness can occur and usually settle quickly.

Following Days

Targeted muscles gradually relax and expression lines begin to soften.

Maintenance

Results are temporary. Repeat treatment can be discussed as muscle activity returns.

Safety & Aftercare

What Should I Know After Dysport®?

Temporary injection-site pain, swelling, redness, bruising, headache, or other side effects can occur. Follow the specific instructions provided by your injector and contact the office if you develop symptoms that concern you.

Botulinum toxin effects can rarely spread beyond the injection area and cause serious symptoms such as difficulty swallowing, speaking, or breathing. Seek immediate medical care for severe or concerning symptoms.

Tell your provider about all medical conditions, medications, previous botulinum toxin treatments, allergies, pregnancy or breastfeeding, and any infection near a proposed injection site before treatment.

Personalized Pricing

How Much Does Dysport® Cost in Brooklyn?

Dysport® pricing depends on the number of units needed, the muscles being treated, and the goals of your treatment plan. Because Dysport® and Botox® use different product-specific units, unit prices should not be compared as though the units are equivalent.

During your consultation, Yelena Terushkin, PA-C can evaluate your muscle activity and provide a personalized treatment recommendation and pricing before treatment.
